I Believe in Covenants and Promises

I Believe in Covenants and Promises

I believe in covenants and promises or we could say covenants and blessings because when we make a covenant we also get a promised blessing if we keep the covenant. Our first covenant is baptism and we covenant to remember Jesus Christ and His atonement, to take upon us His name and to keep His commandments and if we do these things we receive the promised blessing of having His Spirit with us.  The oath and covenant of the priesthood is the same, if we magnify our callings we are blessed to be sanctified by the Spirit unto the renewing of our bodies. In the temple we make many covenants and the promised blessings are beyond this world and maybe our ability to understand completely.  But I believe they are real and worth every effort to keep our covenants so we can one day partake of the wondrous blessings that await us. I believe in covenants and promises.

I Believe in Fathers

I Believe in Fathers

I believe in fathers. Last Sunday was father’s day and I reflected on my father.  Even though I was only 8 when my father passed away, I still have memories of him.  I remember a time I was riding on State Street with him and he had to slam on the brakes and I went flying into the dashboard.  There was no such thing as a car seat in those days.  He had tried to stick out this arm to stop me but I slammed into it pretty hard.  I was only about 5 and I really started to cry. He was so sad that I had gotten hurt and I knew he was sorry and that he loved me.  I remember another time that he woke me up asking, “Do you want to go to Disneyland?”  I remember that he seemed excited to be going to Disneyland.  Fathers are important and we should honor them and the sacrifices they have made and make for us.  I hope my children know that I love them and am proud to be their father.  I have tried to be a good example.  I am not perfect and have made some mistakes.  But I have been consistent and I was always excited to go on any trip with them.  Maybe they will remember this about me.  I enjoy being with them. I believe in FATHERS.

I Believe in Laws and Covenants

I Believe in Laws and Covenants

I believe in laws and covenants and the importance they play in my life.  Laws and Covenants have existed since Adam and are essential in mans ability to return to live with Father in Heaven.  In Mosiah 13:30, we read; “Therefore there was a law given them, yea, a law of performances and of ordinances, a law which they were to observe strictly from day to day, to keep them in remembrance of God and their duty towards him.” I believe laws and covenants do the same things for us today as they did for the children of Israel in their day.  They are meant to help us keep in our remembrance Christ and what He has done for us and our duty towards Him.  The first covenant we make is the covenant of baptism where we covenant to take upon us His name, to always remember Him and to keep His commandments.  We renew this covenant each week as we partake of the sacrament.  We hear those same words, “always remember him”.  We are to strictly observe, in other words attend sacrament meeting each week, to keep us in remembrance of Him and our duty towards Him.  The temple laws and covenants point us towards our Savior and we are His guests each time we visit the temple.  We are in His house and are His guests.  We are admonished to attend the temple regularly, why, so that it, the temple, can keep us in remembrance of Him and our duty towards Him.   I believe in laws and covenants and that they help me keep in remembrance Christ and my duty towards Him.
